During this period, I have written a few articles to introduce Dogri literature to English-knowing readers. The first of these on 'Dogri Folk Literature' was published in the November-December issue of Kashmir Affairs, published from Delhi. He did his English Literature (Hons) from University of Leeds, England.
His major contribution to Dogri literature was the first English book on the history of Dogri language, “An Introduction to Modern Dogri literature”. The book was later translated into four languages, including Hindi, Dogri, Punjabi and Urdu. His second major contribution was his book “An Introduction to Dogri Folk, Literature.
Among his major translation major translation works from Dogri to English are a collection of folk tales, Tales from the Tawi, Shailender Singh's novel Hashiye Parand a collection of Dogri stories.
